Sugar free = poisons

Some sugar substitutes are more dangerous than the real thing. Gut bacteria break down the slow digesting bound alcohols and yield 2C/ gm compared to sugar at 4C/gm, but there the bound alcohols are denser, so there is about 1.25 times as much in them, per same volume and they are less sweet, so we use more. So now instead of sugar, which is digested at about 12 grams/minute, you get to feed your bacteria slow digesting bound alcohols and produce carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulphide, methane, and other hydrogen compounds in the gut and digest at a slow rate.

If you have the bacteria to digest them, you get calories. If you have the wrong bacteria, they can produce a number of noxious substances, including some uglies,
essentially poisons. It is our choice to eat or not.

Testing

I propose a test for food addiction: Just cut all sugar, grain, omega 6 seed oils, nuts, dairy out for 30 days and you will find out if you are addicted, especially if they are in the house.

A few years, Aug, 2008, I started the search for a diet here: http://philmaffetone.com/2weektest.cfm

It worked well, but I found I could not add back anything.

Dairy Insulin responce

From http://relievemypain.blogspot.ca/2012/03/avoiding-dairy-losing-fat.html

The insulin response to Dairy is greater than it should be for the same glucose rise.

Now What?

Dr Davis and the glucose meter is good, but with dairy, the glucose meter is not picking up the story with respect to insulin. This is another surrogate measurement issue. Is this why dairy product seems to also be addicting? Just like nuts, and carbohydrates?

More evidence that I have a over production of insulin problem.

Analysis of possible causes of obesity

From: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/post-traumatic-stress-disorder/DS00246/DSECTION=symptoms

Symptoms

By Mayo Clinic staff
Post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms typically start within three months of a traumatic event. In a small number of cases, though, PTSD symptoms may not appear until years after the event.
Post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms are generally grouped into three types: intrusive memories, avoidance and numbing, and increased anxiety or emotional arousal (hyperarousal).
Symptoms of intrusive memories may include:
  • Flashbacks, or reliving the traumatic event for minutes or even days at a time
  • Upsetting dreams about the traumatic event
Symptoms of avoidance and emotional numbing may include:
  • Trying to avoid thinking or talking about the traumatic event
  • Feeling emotionally numb
  • Avoiding activities you once enjoyed
  • Hopelessness about the future
  • Memory problems
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Difficulty maintaining close relationships
Symptoms of anxiety and increased emotional arousal may include:
  • Irritability or anger
  • Overwhelming guilt or shame
  • Self-destructive behavior, such as drinking too much
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Being easily startled or frightened
  • Hearing or seeing things that aren't there
Post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms can come and go. You may have more post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms when things are stressful in general, or when you run into reminders of what you went through. You may hear a car backfire and relive combat experiences, for instance. Or you may see a report on the news about a rape and feel overcome by memories of your own assault.

This sounds like how I feel. What does this all mean? Do we all have PTSD? Am I just a burn-out at low stress, long ago? Is society as a whole suffering form too much change, to fast? Is it all the computers, technology and change just too much for the human animal.

When we look around at the ultra calm people, Eckhart Tolle comes to mind. example:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j42cTkiGdXY.  The knowledge of pointlessness is pointless.

If this guy is right, then the human animal only needs only, food, shelter, clothing, and all else is excess. So where do I go from here?

The Problem with Roast Beef

Just for Tess, since she will not let the roasts go.

Roast beef is wonderful tasting food, but how did Paleo man cook it?  If we were to cook a roast today, using only an open fire, it would require something to retain the moisture, perhaps a foil rap. Did Paleo man throw a whole leg, skin and all, on the ground and cover it with coals for 1/2 a day? Or did he hang it over the fire, and dry/smoke it until it was cooked.

Roast beef also raises my blood sugar more that rare steak. Perhaps it is all the damaged proteins split into peptides more easily, or are not suitable for anything beside converting to carbohydrates. Something about those overheated branched chain amino acids, I just do not remember.

In the leptin diet, roast beef and slow cooked beef are banned, something about raising insulin more, and insulin interferes with leptin signal transduction.

Then there is the issue of time from arriving home to food on the plate issue, with a disorderly life.

I will leave the roasts for those few time that wifee cooks for a houseful.

Plan vs Goals

I just read a blog of a young lady that has a weight loss goal, but no expressed plan to get there.

Goals are great things. Everybody should have a few. But a workable plan is more important. Without a plan, the goal is just words. It is through a plan that the goal is reached.

The first goal should be to record the food (food journal) we are eating each meal, do a calorie count, carbage count, protein check, and the like.  This is to find where we are at, as a starting point. The second goal should be to select a food plan and stick to it for a bit. Watch where the problems lie, study and address each problem as they become evident.

My first step was to give up sugar. Caffeine and artificial sweeteners followed.
Then wheat, followed by other cereals. Cheese is in the give up/take back stage now. Butter has been gone a few weeks. I was eating butter for a while but now seem to be gaining weight again.

At each give up stage, I overeat green vegetables and meat a bit. It seems to help the cravings, but I do not crave greens and fresh meat, other than roast beef. But then I am not going to do a roast for the two of us.

and as a reminder

“‘Cheshire Puss,’ asked Alice. ‘Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?’
‘That depends a good deal on where you want to go,’ said the Cat.
‘I don’t much care where,’ said Alice.
‘Then it doesn’t matter where you go,’ said the Cat.” – Lewis Carroll
