Commodity vs Real

It seems we could divide the food world into two groups. Commodity foods and Real Foods.

The commodity includes all foods that can be stored, and shipped great distances. These are processed and grains.

Real food likely do not keep very long without care and need to be preprepared, without converting them into hyper-palatable foods. Hyper-palatable are foods that you want more of. (A prep end, just for you english majors).

Which group is your diet in, Laura?

  1. Wouldn't the world be a healthier place if we all eat real and not processed foods. The way we farm and the amount of farming would have to change. The way we shop would change. People would need completely different mind sets .... and probably a lot more would have to be changed!

But will it happen - that is the big question?

Speaking personally I do eat low carb, high fat and moderate protein foods - I mix in some exercise and good sleep. This lifestyle suits me but I don't know about other readers?

    All the best Jan

  2. There will be tremendous numbers wailing about the time cost of food, and preparation time. Perhaps even the actual cost, but then what is life worth? The change will only come one person at a time.

  3. The bigger issue will be to retrain people away from disordered eating, and convenience eating, and all those other names for overeating of hyperpalatable foods.
